THE ELEVENTH ANNUAL NORTHERN IRELAND

GROUP THERAPY CONFERENCE

‘CONTAINING THE UNCONTAINABLE – CREATING AND

SUSTAINING GROUPS IN THE MIDST OF EMOTIONAL STORMS’

AT

CULTRA MANOR, ULSTER FOLK & TRANSPORT MUSEUM

CULTRA, HOLYWOOD, CO. DOWN

ON

MONDAY 11 & TUESDAY 12 AUGUST 2008

Senior American group therapists will join with colleagues from

N. Ireland (Threshold and other associates) and

England (Institute of Group Analysis)

While working with groups can provide an effective and cost effective medium for intervention in a wide range of settings it also presents specific challenges for the group leader or leaders.  This conference offers an opportunity to explore, from  both theoretical and experiential perspectives, the tasks of group leaders and co-leadership teams.  Workshops are structured to allow participants to bring material from their own group work experiences as well as providing an opportunity to learn from the work of other participants and the workshop leader/s.

Workshops will be of interest to those who facilitate client and/or staff groups in

statutory, voluntary and community settings in the fields of health and social care,

education and organisational consultancy.
