The community works with emotionally vulnerable girls between the ages of 11-17

Ongoing assessment which responds to girls' needs through an assessment and group living approach. The community provides a very structured environment for girls to cathect their inner world..

What makes it a therapeutic community:

Young people and staff are involved in the day to day living, every action is considered before implementation and consequence on self and others

Involvement and Links with other professional organisations:

Links with Marlborough House Child and Adolescent Unit.  Links with local CAMHS, use of play therapy, drama therapy, art therapy and integrative psychotherapy.  Oversight is offered on a weekly basis by the consultant psychiatrist who is supported by the clinical and educational psychologists.

Ongoing research, audit programmes, and/or effectiveness or quality procedures in place:

All staff involved in training according to their needs. Feedback - from social services following placements.  Evaluation of base line behaviours on admission of all children are continuously re-evaluated throughout placement.
