The Association of Therapeutic Communities (ATC) is a members association which promotes a values based approach to working with people. We believe that relationships and shared responsibility are central to all helping professions and that the overall environment is critical to the effectiveness of treatment and care. Therapeutic Communities (TCs) are settings where the whole context, the physical environment, the way the day is planned and the relationships a person has are considered to be part of the therapeutic process.

The ATC represents and promotes TCs and TC values at a local and national level. We provide a focus for knowledge, research and training and offer support and information to TCs and to individuals and groups that want to know more about this approach. We also provide information on national and international vacancies. The ATC website and our helpful admin team can support anyone looking for a job in a TC or who is seeking a place in a TC for care and treatment.

The Executive Committee act as Trustees of the Association as a registered Charity. They are responsible to ensure the good management of the Association’s resources, and that we strive to meet the objectives of the Association as set out in the Constitution.
