ATC understands the need for evidence on which to base clinical practice, and also believes that the evidence should be based on clinical practice. To this end, it has established a Research and Development Group (R&D Group). The R&D Group is a subcommittee of the Executive of the Association of Therapeutic Communities.

The R&D Group aims to encourage a research culture in therapeutic communities, to provide opportunities to exchange ideas about research and service evaluation, and to develop a coherent research strategy on behalf of the ATC.

WATCH OUT for a short questionnaire coming to your community in the next few weeks, asking you what type of research is most important to you and your TC. We are going to use your views to help finalise our ATC R&D strategy. You will shortly be able to download a copy from this section of our website.

FOR THE FIRST TIME the Community of Communities is going to include some management data in its self-review workbook. This will help all of us begin to collect the information needed by service Commissioners and prepare the way for more data on the quality of our services.

R&D GROUP– we have just expanded our membership  to ensure that all the different TCs are represented. We’re also launching a new strategy for 09/10, which will appear here soon! So watch this space, because we are on the move! Find out more about the R&D group here.
