
THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITIES' VISITING ARRANGEMENTS
Some Therapeutic Communities welcome visits by arrangement. The following is a list of some facilities and contacts. The list will be expanded as more information becomes available.

The charge for each visitor is £30 unless they are part of West London Mental Health NHS Trust, when they can visit free of charge. Spaces are limited to 3 people each day. As a result it is usually advisable to book well in advance.

Community
Housing & Therapy
From April 2003
CHT's residential communities are open to visitors for a small fee of £35 per person. Visits for referral agencies will be free. The days run from 9.30 a.m. - 5 p.m. and visitors participate in the therapeutic programme of that day, which will include a community meeting. The visitors days are on Tuesdays and communities are limited to inviting two visitors per day. Although there are no formal dates communities require 1 months notice for visits to prepare community members.
If you are interested in visiting one of our communities please email Sarah Paget on training@cht.org.uk with your details including; your name, job title, agency with which you are employed, reason for your visit and preferred date of visit. These details will be shared with community members in preparation for the visit. If you would prefer another method of communication, details are below. Francis
Dixon Lodge
Visitors
are welcomed on Fridays from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. and join in community
meetings, a work group and the community lunch.

Visitors are welcome to visit the Therapeutic Community on Fridays. To apply please write to
the address below stating your reasons for wanting to visit and your current
position. You will be sent an
information pack and a suggested date to visit.
There is no charge for visits but a contribution to lunch is
voluntary.

Main House
Visitors'
days are Thursdays only from 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. Visitors from professional
backgrounds:
nurses, doctors, psychologists, social workers, probation officers, students
etc.
Visitors will be
involved in the normal daily programme to obtain a "snapshot" of the
therapeutic process. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times. Maximum of three visitors at a time.

Visits
can be made by prior arrangement. Visitors should ideally be able to travel by
car as the School is 12 miles from the nearest station and buses are
infrequent. A taxi from Oxford Station costs about £20. Information about the
school is available on the Charterhouse website (use the search engine on the
ATC website for convenience).

The Red House
The Red
House accommodates visitors on a Tuesday afternoon, with the agreement of the
community.

Webb House Democratic Therapeutic Community
Webb House welcomes visitors to observe and participate in the therapeutic process. Visitors are hosted by residents and staff and will attend meetings and groups throughout the day, finishing with a question and feedback session.
Visitors' days
are held fortnightly on Thursdays from 9.00am – 5.00pm for a maximum of 2
visitors. There is a charge per visitor of £30, which is reduced to £20 if the
visitor is a student. There is no charge for staff from Bolton,

Winterbourne Therapeutic Community
Visitors with a professional mental health background are welcomed on most
Tuesdays and Fridays. Visitors are hosted for the day by members, sit in all
groups, participate in activities and have debriefing time at the end of the
day. Visitors must attend for the whole day (9.15 - 3.15) and at least one
week's notice is required. Maximum of 2 visitors at any time.
Visitors on Tuesdays can stay for the TAC (Tuesday Assessment Community, which
is a preparation group for the TC) if they ask when they book; it finishes at
5.45. Lunch costs £1 but no other charge is made for visits.
