Handle with Therapeutic Care Conference

Handle with Therapeutic Care – a practice conference as part of
National Care Leavers Week 2016

24th October 2016

The Consortium for Therapeutic Communities came together with The Care Leavers Foundation to present this exciting and innovative conference which formed part of National Care Leavers Week 2016

This was the first opportunity to hear from the DfE about Government’s plans to trial the ‘Staying Close’ scheme for children leaving residential care….

The conference was for those already working in the looked after children sector, professionals interested in developing their practice and those that have an interest in working to support and promote successful transitions into adulthood. We intended to provide the ideal opportunity to come together with those with lived experience and other professionals to participate in workshops and debate with speakers and presenters. There was also be the opportunity to meet young people representing looked after children and care leavers, whilst enjoying a range of networking opportunities. Our aim in delivering this conference was to promote high quality transitions from care that improves the physical health, social, educational and emotional wellbeing of looked-after children and young people.

The following are the presentations that were made during the day.

Presentation: Amberleigh Care – TCTC Care Leavers Week 16 – Before, During and After – the boys experience
